You don’t have to wait for Passover to enjoy Mark Podwal’s latest liturgical art, created for Sharing the Journey: The Haggadah for the Contemporary Family by Alan S. Yoffie (CCAR Press). An exhibit of the art is on view at Forum Gallery in New York (www.forumgallery.com; call gallery for hours, 212-355-4545) through March 7.

Podwal’s magical paintings are in shades of blue, gold and purple. Among them are pomegranates filled with commandments, a Passover table with a tree sprouting from a Haggada and Hallel depicted as winged Hebrew letters and a musical key cradling the city of Jerusalem.
